This is my 4 or 5th time taking out food and I finally decided leave a review. Best bang for your buck for Japanese food in the Coquitlam center area, and dare I say even in the Tri Cities. You can get chicken teriyaki for 12.95 with plenty of meat and veges, enough to fill you up. The Korean-style spicy chirashi don is the best value that I've seen so far - 15.95 for a huge and delicious meal. I highly recommend to everyone.
Another staple place for hangouts between friends. Hakone is a lowkey restaurant hidden in a mini-mall that is close to Coquitlam center. The service is quick, water is completely being refilled and the food is great for it's price. I would definitely recommend bringing friends and family here :)
I did not score the atmosphere as I had my dinner delivered by Skip the dishes. The food was delicious and the presentation very good even for delivery. Another time I will need to sit in the restaurant and enjoy the experience. The salmon. As tender and tasty, the shrimp tempura nice and light and crunchy. The spicy tuna roll had just enough heat. And the salad was fresh and crunchy.
Huge portions. Alot of prawn tempura for the price. The Japanese Chirashi don was very big that I had to take half of it home and it came with miso soup. Great mom and papa restaurant. Definitely come back.
Inari (bean curd) nigiri sushi: good inari sushi, I liked it. Chopped scallop with masago nigiri sushi: first time trying this and it’s quite delicious. Miso soup: the server was very kind and offered me a second bowl of miso soup. It was decent. Chicken teriyaki donburi: awesome dish! The portion was very generous and it tastes pretty good. Would recommend.
The sushi is very tasty and the presentation is really good. Really good value for money. Most of all, the service is amazing! I will be coming back to this place again.
Sitting down for sushi at Hakone is akin to the feeling of coming home. Great quality food, great prices, even better care and service by a family-owned small business. A must-visit in Coquitlam!
